The pad was easy to install and fit tightly on my M4 stock. It has a simple ribbed back of hard rubber and does not emit much of an odor. It's fairly inexpensive compared to similar pads and it is made in China. Since it is hard rubber, don't expect much padding. However, it will reduce slipping when your firearm is resting in a vertical position. The inside surface against the butt-stock shows the reverse image of the exterior ribbing. Overall, happy with the purchase.
