Hogue EZG Pre-Sized Recoil Pad for Mossberg 500 Shotgun - Perfect Fit for Wood Stock - Ideal for Hunting, Shooting Sports & Recoil Reduction

At this point I can only review the fit and I am giving it 5 stars because the fit is very very close. The stock on my Mossberg 500 APT has been replaced. I bought the gun used. They are so durable that I did not give used a second thought. Later it dawned on me that definitely needed a recoil pad. That is where the problem started. Lots of manufactures claim theirs will fit and they won't. This says its made to fit and it is. It included two small wooden dowels and two Phillip head screws. There are slits that are on the visible side for the screws to enter. The quality appears to be great. I will try and remember to update this review with how well it absorbs the energy produced when firing the larger shells I will use, the cost was less than 30 and so far I am really pleased.It's just a little too big for my Mossberg 500 wood stock. The holes don't match up. I think it's the stock that's off but the pad comes with dowels that I used with wood glue and placed in to the existing screw holes and then drilled to match the Hogue stock. Just a little better than the original...limb saver is much softer. Still got "kissed" on the cheek the first time out. You have to get it tight to the shoulder to avoid being "kissed".It was hard to find a recoil that fit to replace the one that came originally with the gun .This one in my opinion reduces 20% of the recoil felt in the shoulder while shooting slugs and therefore it improved my accuracy.Now my girlfriend likes to use it too.It includes the installation instruction or manual; and even though the alignment between the new screws and the original holes in the stock had to be done again its not rocket science ,I did mine at a hardware store for 10 $ instead of paying an overprice at a local gunsmith.Very please would recommend it to others and have a nice hunting season.It will work but looks bad. It said mossberg 500 wood stock.I received mine and upon mounting it to the shotgun I realized the holes on the recoil pad were crooked. Also the recoil pad was slightly over sized for my shotgun. I have the Mossberg 500 Classic. Unfortunately I thought this thing was so cheep I just threw it away forgetting I had paid 30 dollars instead of just 5 or something. Normally I like Hogue products but this was a big miss.The one a received is not sized to fit a wood stocked Mossberg 500. I checked the fit on the 2 stocks that I have. The recoil pad overhangs each side by 1/8 of an inch. I was able to make it work by removing the excess material on a belt sander.great product but it did not fit my moss berg 500 wood stock which it says right in the title!!! very upsetI apparently had an older wood stock Mossberg 500, and the pad didn't fit. It was about 3/8" too short.Bien
